Today began our final week of lessons, and we're wrapping up the year with X and Z. The next two and half weeks will be a little chaotic but lots of fun. We started by introducing Xx through our morning work. We bid farewell to April during Calendar and reviewed our sight words.
For our Center, we cut, glued, glittered, and colored our May calendars, which will go home tomorrow. Landon was our leader today, and he did a wonderful job!
Also, Missy (Benjamin's mom) and Deborah (Emily's mom) have shared some pictures of Friday's Neckties and Necklaces tea party last Friday, so I will be sure to post those this week.

Monday, April 23, 2012--The Letter Nn
We started our unit on the letter Nn today. We are wrapping up the last three letters of the alphabet this week and next. My, how quickly this year has passed! Today we went on a nature walk to collect pine needles and leaves. We are going to use them tomorrow to decorate the N themed nests we colored, cut, and assembled today. We were very impressed with the students' knowledge of the n-sound and their list of words. Check out our adventures below!

Week of April 17-21
This week we learned many things about the letter Qq. We practiced saying the Qq sound and recognizing it in words (the cr sound and q sound are very similar). We also worked on recognizing the differences between Q and O and q and p (very tricky). Here is a recap of all of our activities.

Monday, April 1, 2012--Welcome back!
Today we welcomed the kids back from Spring Break with big hugs! We were so excited to see everybody. Although we dove right into lessons and crafts on the letter Qq, we have also slowed the pace of the classroom down just a bit to allow the kids to enjoy these last precious weeks before most of them graduate and look toward "big kid school." Go ahead and cue the sniffles from the moms and dads as well as from me and Ms. Hill. Your kids are so precious to us, and this year has been one of my most rewarding years in the teaching profession. Okay, enough sappy lines from me. On to the fun stuff from your sweet babies.
We started with a little story telling about our Easter and Spring Break activities.
Then we moved on to a little Qq tracing.
We put the finishing touches on our April placemats and did a little work on our special Memory Book that each parent will receive at the end of the year.
Chloe was our leader today, and she did a wonderful job!
We wrapped up the day with a book on the letter Qq and some outside play time. See you tomorrow!
