Fun With Rainbows

Last week we had fun learning about rainbows and the color spectrum.  The students had fun engaging in lots of activities centered around this theme.  Some of our activities included a rainbow rice sensory center, a rainbow writing craft, a Roy G Biv craft, and rainbow skittles graphing.

R is for Rainbow

This week is all about the letter R and Rainbows.  On Monday, we made a rainbow out of hand prints for the bulletin board in the hall.

On Tuesday, we learned which colors make up the rainbow and that the order of the colors spells out ROY G BIV.   We also made a rainbow in the classroom using an overhead projector, and a bowl of water.
Our centers included coloring a rainbow in the correct color order.  The students did great!  Another center involved coloring the letter Rr with markers using rainbow colors, cutting out the Rr, and then gluing to a blue sheet of paper.

After our centers on Tuesday, the students helped me make rainbow colored rice to use as a sensory center on Thursday.  We took turns pouring rice into a bag, putting a few drops of food coloring in, and then shaking the bag of rice to mix the color.  Some students shook the bag of rice gently while others shook the bag vigorously.  Either way, our rainbow rice colors turned out beautiful!

Dr. Seuss Week

Dr. Seuss week was a lot of fun.  Our week included reading favorite Dr. Seuss books such as Wacky Wednesday, ABC,  Wocket in my Pocket, The Cat in the Hat, and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.  Here are some pictures to recap our week.
