Welcome Back!

This week the kids have enjoyed learning about arctic animals such as penguins and polar bears.  The letter P has been incorporated in many of our activities from making penguin mosaics using torn pieces of paper to making polar bears using shaving cream and glue puff paint.  Other P activities the kids have enjoyed include puzzles, play-doh, and pipe cleaner number beading.

Using our fine motor skills to
tear paper for our penguin mosaics

Assembling the penguin mosaics

Pipe cleaner number beading: the kids had to call on their counting skills to string the
correct amount of beads onto the pipe cleaner.  They did Awesome!!

One of the students' favorite activities this week was using homemade glitter play-doh, buttons, pipe cleaners, and tiny pieces of felt to create their very own snowmen. Check out their very creative and super cute snowmen.

We also had fun with shaving cream this week.  At one center we used shaving cream to create a winter landscape for penguins.  The children enjoyed hiding and finding penguins buried in the snow.

Our other shaving cream center involved painting with a shaving cream/glue mixture to create our very own polar bear complete with a black pom pom nose and large googly eyes.

Playing with puzzles and Mr. Potato Head

Alphabet Stamping: the kids had to locate the letter on their alphabet grid that matched the letter drawn out of a basket and stamp it with a paint dotter.  Everyone did a fabulous job recognizing the letters of the alphabet!

Walking to the library for story time.

Our polar bear snack we made using doughnuts, marshmallows, hershey's kisses, and mini chocolate chips!

Show and Tell is always a big hit.  The kids love to show their special belongings to their classmates.
