Friday

On Friday, we had a lot of fun beginning our Valentine themed arts and crafts and centers.  As the children came in Friday morning, they cut out hearts that we later used in our marble painting activity.  Marble painting was one of our centers, and the children had a great time rolling marbles in a box with their cut-out hearts and  paint.  As they rocked the box side to side, the marbles picked up the paint and rolled across their hearts producing cool designs.  Another center included a number recognition and counting activity using heart counters.  We practiced recognizing and counting numbers 1-12.

At the Valentine counting activity, the students worked together to place the appropriate number of heart counters in each section of their tray.

Ladders and bristle blocks on the carpet.

On Friday, we also started making our 100th day hats.  The students are placing 10 stickers on 10 different colored strips to make a hat with 100 stickers!  This is a great activity for reinforcing counting skills and for enhancing fine motor skills.
