Thursday, March 22, 2012--Clouds in a Cup

Today we used shaving cream, water, and food coloring to recreate the process that leads to precipitation. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we discussed how the clouds get very heavy with condensation. When the water vapor in the clouds becomes so heavy the clouds can no longer hold all of it, precipitation falls. The students used medicine droppers to drip colored water into their shaving cream clouds to see how much water it would take before the "precipitation" broke through. We had a lot of fun watching as the students' clouds rained at various intervals.

We also painted the bodies of our windsocks and hung them up to dry.

Of course we also got to enjoy our favorite Thursday treat--music with Ms. Kaitlyn!

We finally got to add a little variety to our Weather Worms because it began to rain as we were getting ready for Calendar.

Dean was our leader today. He did a great job!

We read these two wonderful books and made a little time for Mickey Mouse Memory since we weren't able to go outside.

See you tomorrow!
